2024 Range Rover Evoque vs. Range Rover Velar Comparison with Price, Specs, & Photos

2024 Range Rover Evoque VS Range Rover Velar - Land Rover Louisville

Range Rover has become more than just an iconic luxury off road model, and today it’s a brand of its own, comprised of four different models. It’s easy enough to work out where the full-size Range Rover and the midsize Range Rover Sport fit in the lineup, but there are also now two compact models, the Evoque and the Velar, and it might not be as obvious as to what sets those last two apart. That’s why we’ve put together this guide, to really break down the differences between these fashionable, smaller, Range Rover models.

There are some obvious similarities between these two models, including the fact that they’re powered by the same engine. You can tow a bit more with the Velar, and the Evoque will hit a slightly higher top speed, but neither of these are likely to be the determining factor for most buyers. There is a price difference though, and we’ll take a closer look as to why after we first look at the overall size of these two models.

Here we see some substantial differences, but also some similarities. In areas relating to offroading, like wading depth and obstacle clearance, the two are nearly identical. But the Velar is a little bit taller, and noticeably longer. And that brings us to interior space, which deserves its own breakdown.

For drivers and front passengers, there isn’t a huge difference between the Evoque and the Velar, but the extra length of the Velar certainly makes for a more spacious back seat and quite a bit more cargo space. For some, this difference isn’t that important, and the Evoque would be a great pick for those people. But if you need that extra space, the Velar may be the better decision.

As you can see, the two vehicles are similar in quite a few ways. You get all of the things that make a Range Rover a Range Rover either way, but in a word, the $11,000 price difference means the Velar delivers “more”. More cargo space, more rear seat roominess, more towing capacity, and a few more luxury appointments. For instance, the Velar is over 16” longer overall, and if you intend to have adults ride in the back seat, they’ll appreciate that extra space. It also allows you to carry more cargo inside the Velar, and tow more equipment behind the Velar. The other differences are minor, bigger standard wheels on the Velar, and a 14-way driver driver seat with memory, but they are present nonetheless. For those who don’t need the extra space, the Evoque will deliver the luxury experience you want without the need to spend extra on space you don’t need. But for those who do need the space, the Velar is an excellent choice.
