What The Critics Say
“There aren’t many SUVs that are as capable as the Defender, and they mostly come from Land Rover’s lineup. Some may consider the Jeep Wrangler a cheaper alternative, but the Defender has it beat when it comes to on-road refinement and available luxury appointments”
— Car and Driver
“Banking on its storied history as a go-anywhere, do-anything SUV before the term SUV even existed, the Defender has the off-road chops to tackle some of the most daunting challenges. At the same time, it’s a modern Land Rover, with the luxury trappings that make it easy to live with when you’re on big-city pavement.”
— Edmunds
What’s New For 2027
The first big change for 2027 is a new optional 6-seat configuration, which includes the previously available third row of seats, but replaces the 2nd-row bench with a pair of captain’s chairs. Next, the 2.0-liter former standard engine has been dropped, along with the V8. The 3.0-liter six-cylinder engine remains and is available in two different states of tune. With the V8 being dropped, the V8 has also been dropped, but there is a new trim for 2027: the Vertex. This is a performance-oriented trim, with new styling touches like a spoiler and revised bumpers. Some of these performance-oriented features are now also available on the X-Dynamic SE trim, via the new Extended Exterior Pack.
Defender 110 Features

Proven Performance & Capability
The Defender 110 comes with a 3.0-liter inline-six engine under the hood. This produces 296 horsepower and offers exceptionally smooth power delivery. For those looking for more power, there is an available 395-horsepower tune of this engine that still retains the same smoothness. Both come mated to a smooth and responsive eight-speed ZF® automatic transmission and twin-speed transfer case.
A maximum towing capacity of 8,200 pounds and available Advanced Tow Assist helps showcase the impressive capability of the Defender. Configurable Terrain Response® is also offered in the Defender 110 (standard on X derivatives and optional on others), giving drivers the ability to customize the setup of the vehicle to match the conditions. A fully independent suspension, twin-speed transfer case, and permanent four-wheel drive each help the Defender 110 conquer any obstacle that stands in its way.

Bold Exterior
Staying true to its legacy, the Defender 110 is available with a wide selection of rugged exterior design cues to reflect a personality that matches your own. In fact, its purposeful design remains eye-catching without compromising any of its functionality. It’s also the first Land Rover vehicle available with an optional factory-fitted Satin Protective Film which delivers enhanced design and durability. On select models, a gloss black inset contrast hood is standard along with Gloss Black claddings for a more rugged look both on and off the trails. Choose from three Accessory Packs for a look that’s customized to your personal tastes.

Advanced Technology
A versatile layout and practical design combine to create an interior that helps even the most inhospitable terrain feel more comfortable. The Defender 110 can be optioned with five, six, or 5+2 seating. You’ll have your selection of several upholstery options including Resolve textile, Grained Leather, and a durable Robust Woven Textile featuring higher Decitex fibers. The rugged constructivist theme is consistent throughout the cabin with visible features that retain structural door casings while partially exposing the painted doors, paying tribute to Defender models of the past. The standard Pivi Pro infotainment system featuring an intuitive interface with Software-Over-The-Air updates lets you experience your favorite multimedia via a standard 13.1-inch touchscreen with standard Apple CarPlay® and Android Auto™ compatibility.
